Post-doctoral Position at the University Cruzeiro do Sul, São Paulo, Brazil

Applications are invited for a FAPESP-funded (http://www.fapesp.br/en/) post-doctoral position at the Astronomy Group in University Cruzeiro do Sul, to work on calibrating theoretical stellar libraries using UVES/VLT stellar spectra. Preference will be given to applicants with experience on spectral data reduction in the optical. The project will be supervised by Drs. Paula Coelho and Lucimara Martins (UCS). Time for independent research can be negotiated.

FAPESP post-doctoral fellowship is of about US$ 2,850 per month, free of taxes, plus a research grant of about US$ 5,000 per year. Travel and moving expenses are also included (one month extra salary plus plane tickets). The position is funded for up to two years. A PhD degree and relevant research experience are required.

The application process will have two phases :

* Phase 1 (Deadline March 09th, 2012)
Selection of one or two candidates among the applicants based on their CV, publication record, and research expertise.

* Phase 2 (Deadline June 4th, 2012)
Submission of a research project to FAPESP, written by both the successful candidate of phase 1 and the supervisor.
